The current AI boom is fueling an intelligent transformation in the security industry, giving Chinese security products a stronger competitive edge in global markets. Meanwhile, the integration of "AI + Security" is providing crucial momentum for the development of digital cities.

At this year's CPSE (China Public Security Expo), smart security products have emerged as a vital "main artery," seamlessly connecting scenarios like smart transportation, smart campuses, smart parks, and smart communities to weave the broader fabric of smart city infrastructure.

On the streets, Huawei's GoodView cameras and software can recognize license plates, capture facial features, and track traffic violations. At construction sites, the intelligent video AI safety management platform provided by Shenzhen Vifo Vision Co., Ltd. detects whether workers are wearing safety gloves, insulated shoes, and protective goggles, creating a vital safety barrier for construction operations. On campuses, the AI anti-bullying terminal from Beijing Kuaiyu Electronics Co., Ltd. monitors for distress keywords such as "help," "fight," and "110" (emergency services), enabling precise prevention and intervention in dormitories and playgrounds.

Empowered by AI, these smart security products are becoming the fundamental building blocks of China's digital and smart city initiatives. According to IDC data, the market size for AI platforms in China's smart city sector was 5.32 billion RMB in 2022, representing a 4.2% year-on-year decline. However, starting in 2023, the proliferation of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI has ushered in new opportunities for the market. IDC projects that AI will enter a critical phase of large-scale commercial deployment over the next five years.

Jin Zihui, Research Manager at IDC’s Government and Smart City Research Group, noted that the rapid advancement of generative AI and large models is already reshaping various industries. In the smart city sector, there is an urgent need to accelerate the integration and innovation of AI technologies with real-world business scenarios. With the rapid evolution of generative models, LLMs and multimodal models are demonstrating increasingly mature practical value. In the future, generative AI is expected to enhance operational efficiency and innovation in government and public services through applications like intelligent customer service and automated content generation.
